Delaware MARS Repeater and Digital Network

Delaware Army MARS maintains an extensive repeater and digital network across the state.  Much of the labor and maintenance on the system is performed by Mr. John Scoggin, AAT3BF.  Below is a basic overview of the system.

VHF Repeater Network

Delaware Army MARS controls three repeaters throughout the state.  One is located at the Delaware Army National Guard State Area Command, another is located in Harrington, and the last is located in Dagsboro near the Indian River.  The STARC and Harrington repeaters are linked using an Arcom repeater controller and link radios.  This allows people in New Castle to talk to people in Kent and Sussex on a single "talkgroup".  Eventually, the Indian River repeater will also be incorporated into the system.

VHF Packet Network

Packet access is very easy to come by across the state.  Army MARS operates the digital gateway AA3RGN from Newark.  This gateway includes a Winlink 2000 Telpac port along with the HF Winlink 2000 PMBO. Using a fiber optics system, AA3RGN has a remote Telpac port in Harrington as well for southern Delaware users.  Up north, you may connect to the DENCC1 in Delaware City, or the DENCC2 in North Wilmington digipeater nodes to connect to AA3RGN or other stations in the area.  Through the AA3RGN gateway PMBO, you may also send messages through HF Pactor I, II, and III using Airmail 2000.  To find out more about Winlink 2000 go to the Winlink website at www.winlink.org.
